2 lip product reviews | Barry M + NYX

In the past couple of months, I've picked up two new lip products. One being a Lip Kit by Barry M and the other being a Butter Gloss by NYX. I absolutely love lip products and hadn't actually had any lip products in a while until I got these two. I originally wanted to do individual reviews, but instead I've chosen to write about these in one post.

Barry M Lip Kit | I'll start with the lip kit first and I've mentioned this in a couple of previous blogposts since getting it. The lip kit comes with a lipliner and lip paint. For £6.99, these are amazing. This is my first Barry M lip product that I've tried and I'm really impressed with it. This is the lip kit in the shade Pose, which is a matte pink and is great for this time of the year.

The lipliner is probably my favourite as it goes with a lot of my other lipsticks. Its a lovely shade and applies smoothly, without tugging. Its a pencil lipliner and works really well. The lip paint is also really good. It does come out darker on your lips than it looks in the tube, but its still extremely pretty. Its not drying at all and lasts for around four hours on my lips without eating. The lip paint is thin, but extremely pigmented and I usually use two coats.

I'm not 100% sure whether or not this lip kit is still available because I'm pretty sure it was limited edition. There were only three shades of the lip kit, however you can buy their other lipliners and lip paints individually. I really want to try more of Barry M's lip products.

NYX Butter Gloss I'm really into the glossy lip look at the moment and I tend to wear a glossy lip balm over lipsticks, however now I have this lipgloss, I don't need to. I only own two lip glosses, which are from Tanya Burr's old collection, so I wanted to try a NYX one. This is in the shade Madeleine and its a lovely mid-tone nude.

I absolutely love this shade and it goes well on its own or over my brown-nude lipsticks. This lipgloss is really moisturising and I don't have to prep my lips beforehand. I don't need to wear a lipliner underneath, but sometimes I like to because then it kind of looks a different colour, depending on the shade of lipliner. Its a creamy, easy to apply and non-sticky lipgloss.

The formula is lightweight and its comfortable to wear. It lasts for a few hours until I eat and then I have to reapply. I don't mind reapplying after eating because I usually do anyway. The lipgloss is pigmented and I usually use two coats, but if its over lipstick then I'll only use one. For £5, this amazing. I definitely want to try more of NYX's Butter Glosses, as theres a bunch of shades to choose from.

Have you tried either of these? If so, what are your thoughts on them?

  2. It's been SO long that I've looked at Barry M's makeup that I didn't realise they did liquid lipsticks. £6.99 is a fab price for a lip kit, so I'm definitely going to be having a peek at their range soon!

    1. I don't think the lip kit is available anymore, however they sell the lipliner and lip paint individually. I recommend their lip paints and lipliners though!
