2021 favourites

 2021 favourites

Since I don't seem to do my monthly favourites anymore (maybe I'll bring that back in 2022), there's a lot of favourites I've had that I've not spoken about here on my blog. I have a mix of beauty, skincare, TV, clothing and some other bits.

beauty + skincare

First up is the Garnier Coconut & Macadamia Hair Food, which has been a high favourite of mine in 2021. Hair masks are something I don't generally buy/use, so after reading about the Garnier hair food I was unsure whether to try it or not. I'm so glad I did because it's just a lovely mask. I like that you can put it on your hair wet or dry so if I forget to put it in when I'm in the shower, it doesn't really matter as I can do it afterwards. It leaves my hair feeling very soft and refreshed and I love it. Garnier have a choice of lots of different ones so I definitely want to pick up some more.

A brand I've been loving is Tresemmé. In 2021 I've been loving their Luxurious Moisture shampoo and conditioner. I picked these up from Home Bargains at such a great price for 2 big bottles and I was really impressed. These leave my hair feeling lovely. I also started using the Care & Protect Heat Protection spray as I started to put more heat on my hair in the past few months. I love this stuff.

I hadn't used Simple in years until I picked up their Kind to Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser. I absolutely love this moisturiser. Not only is it such a good priced moisturiser, but it makes my skin feel really nice and smooth. A little big goes a long way so this is lasting me really well and I use it about 2 times a day. It's definitely saving my skin throughout the colder months when my face is usually really dry despite using previous moisturisers, so I'm very happy I chose this Simple moisturiser.

I used to always use LUSH's lip scrub, however after I ran out of my last one I decided to try Barry M's watermelon Lip Scrub instead and it's just as good. I love using this, especially when my lips are feeling quite dry or before putting on lipsticks. This contains oil, jojoba and avocado which are great ingredients.

Two pastel nail polishes I've had on rotate for months are Barry M's Candy Floss and Lavender. These were lovely in the summer months but I continued to wear them up until December. I love pastel colours and these were 2 of my favourites I've ever had!

Ted Baker was always a beauty brand I wanted to try but hadn't done up until last Christmas. In 2021 I've been using all the makeup items from my Ted Baker set (that I wrote a blogpost on here). I've tried the mascara, eyeshadow trio, blush and bronzer duo, eyelash curlers, lipstick, lipgloss, lip crayon and eyebrow pencil and have loved all of them.

Up until I ordered Dr Paw Paw's Original Balm I had never heard of them before but the reviews on Beauty Bay were good so I thought I'd give it a try, especially because it was on sale. This contains good ingredients which has powerful healing qualities. Not only can you use this as lip balm, which was the main purpose of me buying this, but you can also use it as a skin protector, irritation soother or hair conditioning treatment, so that's interesting.

I never stick with the same primer more than once, however after trying The Ordinary High-Adherence Primer I think I'll be sticking with this because I love it. This is a lightweight serum-like primer which feels very hydrating on my skin. It smooths it out and is a great base for my foundation and leaves my makeup looking nice. I don't use this every day as I don't wear makeup everyday, however a little goes a long way, so I think this will last me a while.

After my Ted Baker mascara ran out (and I can't find the exact one), I purchased the Revolution Wipsy False Lash mascara on a whim and I love it. The brush is big which I do like, although it's difficult to apply to my bottom lashes. It separates and coats my top lashes very well and it doesn't smudge once it's dry.

Last New Years Eve, my Barry M Euphoric metallic eyeshadow cream in 'Charged' arrived and I absolutely love it. I really like cream eyeshadows and definitely need more of them. One thing I like about cream eyeshadows is how easy, smooth and quick they are to apply and this does exactly that. It's long lasting, doesn't crease and looks nice throughout the whole day!

tv

In 2021, I started watching a few TV shows that I really enjoyed. All of these are on Netflix and I recommend all of them.

- Grace & Frankie

- You

- Sex Education

- Squid Game

- The Punisher

This section has a mix of things that have been my favourites in 2021.

In late 2021, I finally got a shacket after wanting one for the longest time. This is oversized, comfortable, warm but not super thick, comfy and goes with a lot. You can layer underneath it when it's freezing or just have a short sleeve top underneath for when it's not too cold. I've been wearing this all the time and have been loving styling it.

Wax melts have become my favourites during 2021, after getting my first wax burner from Asda. I haven't tried a wide variety of wax melts from lots of different brands but I've loved the ones I have tried. My favourite's so far have been from Etsy, but I recently got some from Airpure which I cannot wait to try!

I've spoken about this before, but in 2021 I fell in love with my Fitbit Versa 2 in pink/rose gold and I'm obsessed with it. My boyfriend got this for me as an early birthday present and I've basically had it on constantly. It's a smartwatch and you can track your health and fitness on there. I track my workouts, my calories, my steps, my sleep, my water intake, my periods, my heartbeat per minute and lots more. I find it fascinating and it definitely motivates me more and seeing how much calories I've burnt etc.

Ever since I started boxing at Bootcamp I've loved it. Boxing is so tough but so much fun and is a great way of exercising. I recently bought my own boxing gloves and I love them. I can now practice boxing at home and take them to Bootcamp to wear when we do boxing there too!

Etsy has become my favourite place to shop. I can't believe it took me this long to ever buy something from there. There are so many unique items from small businesses. I love supporting small businesses and I can't wait to buy from them again. I did most of my Christmas shopping from Etsy and everything I got from there was lovely. I also got myself some handmade things like wax melts and tree decorations!
