Makeup Revolution Salvation Velvet Lacquer

When I was in Superdrug, I came across Makeup Revolution's liquid lipsticks. I hadn't heard a lot about these, but I found a red one so I was desperate to try it. I'd wanted to try a red lipstick for so long after owning a darker red lipstick by Rimmel that doesn't suit me whatsoever, so I don't wear it. I've been looking for a lighter red lipstick for absolutely ages so I'm really happy that I found this one. It was only £3 and I thought if I didn't like it, it's not like it was a lot of money. I have mixed feeling about this lipstick.

The packaging is a transparent tube with a black lid that closes securely so it's not likely to leak if you take it out in your bag. It comes in a rose gold box. It has a long wand with a doe-foot sponge applicator that is a good size.

When I first applied this lipstick, I didn't get an even layer and it was quite messy. The first layer being messy happened every time I wore it, but once you apply a second layer it's absolutely fine. Once I apply this and then wait for it to dry, I don't rub my lips together or press them together because it becomes patchy. It doesn't dry too quickly, but it does dry completely matte. I use 2 layers, but it is buildable.

This is pigmented and comfortable to wear for a little while, but after a little while it does start to feel really drying. The thing I was impressed with was that it took some work to remove from my lips and it's long lasting. When I touched my lips after it had dried, it didn't come off whatsoever. The other day I swatched all my lipsticks and the one that didn't want to come off and took a long time to, was this one.

This is the shade 'Keep Trying For You'. It's not a dark red and it's not too bright. I love the shade and I'm glad I've found a red lipstick that I like the shade of.

Overall I do like this lipstick, but I'm unsure whether I'll purchase another one. For £3 it's good, but it hasn't been my favourite lipstick formula that I've tried. The shade is perfect and I'll still wear it, probably not for a long amount of time, but unfortunately it isn't something I'll buy again.

Pros:
  • Dries completely matte
  • Price is good
  • Long lasting
  • Doesn't come off if you touch it and doesn't smudge it
  • Takes some work to come off
Cons:
  • Very drying
  • Have to be careful when it dries otherwise it'll turn patchy

Have you tried this product? What did you think of it?
