I Made An Easter Cake

Happy (a day early) Easter! I haven't done any Easter blogposts as I didn't really know what I wanted to do besides baking ones. I stopped myself from doing some baking ones until this weekend due to the fact that I'd be soo tempted to eat them all and I'm eating super healthy at the moment. As it's Easter weekend I planned to make this cake for a blogpost and have been excited to make it.

I originally wasn't going to make the bunny as I thought it would be a complete fail. After finding out how easily it sounded, I thought I'd give it a try and I actually like how it turned out. I didn't make the cake from scratch, I used a cake mix from a packet.

After the cake was cooked I made butter icing for the top so the mini eggs and the bunny would stick to it. I was going to use the kit kat's without cutting them, but they would've been too tall. I then used icing sugar to stick them on.

To make the bunny I used white sugar paste icing. I rolled the sugar paste icing into a ball and cut it in half to make the bunnies bottom. I then rolled a smaller sugar paste ball for the tail and cut it with scissors to create the fur effect. For the feet I rolled up two bits of sugar paste and shaped them like bunnies feet. I then rolled out little bits of sugar paste to create little bits on the feet. I wanted to add food colouring to the feet details, but trying to add food colouring to the sugar paste icing didn't go well so I just left it.

I then added mini eggs around. I'm actually so proud of how this cake turned out and I'm proud that I made the bunny without giving up (I give up easily). My Mum made an Easter cake too. She made an adorable heart Easter cake with butter icing and mini eggs. I'll insert some more photos down below!

Have you done any Easter baking?
