Contouring with L.A. Girl's concealer

I've wanted to contour with a concealer for a long time, but never had a concealer to contour with until now. Contouring is something that I'm really into, I love contouring, trying different products and I love the look of it. For the past year, contouring has been apart of my makeup routine, whether it's a lot or just a bit. In the time that I've been contouring, I've tried two powders (by Maybelline and Barry M) and a cream contour (by Clinique). I much prefer contouring with cream products (and now concealer).

I recently purchased an L.A. Girl concealer in the shade Porcelain to highlight with and I love the formula, the way it blends and how long it lasts. I noticed in a video a while back that Carli Bybel used one of these concealers to contour with and then I went on the hunt to find a shade that'd be good for me to contour with.

I chose the shade Toast. I always find it difficult choosing shades online, but there's no shops in the UK that sell L.A. Girl, so I googled photos of the shade Toast and ordered it. I turned up a few days later and it's actually a good shade. It's a teeny bit dark for me, but once I've blended it out, it's absolutely fine.

To apply this product, I squeeze the product out of the tube, put some product on a blender, apply that to my face and blend it in with a contour brush. It means that I wont overdo it, as the first time I applied straight from the tube and ended up applying waaaay too much! I find the product comes out a lot easier with this concealer compared to my other one.

I like to contour my cheekbones, nose and forehead. Although I apply this onto my face with a blender instead of the applicator, the applicator is a good size to apply a thin line with.

I love this concealer to contour with. It works very well, blends in easily and is long lasting. I don't use a lot of this product, as you only really need a little bit and a little goes a long way. I'd definitely repurchase this, but maybe in a lighter shade to contour with, I'm not too sure. I did write a review on my lighter shade (Porcelain) here, if you'd like to read about the concealer itself.

What do you contour with? Have you tried the L.A. Girl concealer to contour with?

  2. That's such a good idea, I use either a contour powder from MAC or a cream contour from MAC but to be honest I rarely contour at all but I do want to start doing as I have a very round moon face ha ha xx
