Trying a foundation stick | Barry M's All Night Long foundation
Foundation sticks are something that I've wanted to try for a while, after seeing loads of people use them. I had never tried a foundation stick until I saw that Barry M came out with an All Night Long foundation stick. My favourite foundation is from Barry M (the Flawless Finish foundation), so I kind of had high hopes for this and didn't read anything about it beforehand. Before I get into the product, I wanted to say that this post is going to be quite a ramble.
For some reason I really like this packaging, even though it is fairly simple. Its matte black feels very soft and has a rose gold ring around it. Its simple, but cute and the foundation twists out easily.
When buying the foundation, I really struggled to choose a shade as I'm awful at getting shades right, especially when buying online. There were only 8 shades available and my decision was between 2 shades and guess what? I chose the wrong one. I got the shade Cashew and could've been better off getting the shade Milk.
Applying this to my face was easy as it has a lovely cream formula. You just dab or rub the foundation onto your face and I blended it in with a brush, which I'm not sure was the best idea. While it seemed to have gone across my face well it didn't seem to blend in properly, no matter how much I blended it. I felt like instead of it being blended in, it kinda just sat on my face. I don't even know if this is making any sense because I don't know how to explain it.
I then applied concealer over it and it took a lot of the foundation off from under my eyes. I couldn't fix it, so I ended up leaving it like that because I wasn't leaving the house anyway and wanted to see how the rest of it went. My contour, liquid illuminator and powder applied well over it, so that was positive. Besides the foundation not sitting on my face well and then my concealer ruining under my eyes, I realised the coverage was actually really good. Its a medium coverage, but it looked more like a full coverage to me.
The second time I tried the foundation, I applied the concealer underneath and the foundation looked a lot better. I also blended it in with a sponge and it felt like it blended in a little better and the coverage was still good, but for some reason I still hated how it looked.
Throughout the 2 days I tried it, I realised that the foundation comes off if you touch your face the slightest bit. I avoid touching my face as much as I can, but for some reason I touched my face that day and there was so much foundation on my hand that had come off.
Annoyingly, the foundation clings to every bit of dry skin I have on my face and I hate that. After checking often what it looked like throughout the day, I realised that if I don't touch my face, all of it except on my nose lasted all day. It went oily on my nose, but stayed put on my cheeks, chin, forehead and under my nose/above my lip. I'm surprised at how well it lasted on my face, besides my nose.
I was shocked when trying to remove the foundation, because although I thought it wasn't sat on my face properly, it took a lot of scrubbing to remove it. I was trying to remove it for ages until it finally came off. How can it take so long to remove when it felt like it wasn't properly on my face and it comes off so easily when I touch my face? This foundation is a weird one.
I am unimpressed with this foundation. I just hated how it looked and how it clung to every dry patch. I genuinely thought it was going to be good, so I was a little disappointed with the outcome. This foundation may work for some people, but it definitely didn't work for me and I'll just continue using my Flawless Finish foundation (aka my favourite).
This was £6.99 I'm not going to be repurchasing it. It hasn't put me off trying some more things from their All Night collection as they've got good things like colour correcting concealers and normal concealers.
Have you tried this foundation? If so, let me know what you thought of it!
This doesn't sound too good. I've avoided trying these types of foundations because of this. I think I'll stick to liquid! Great review though, thanks so much for being so honest. It's so refreshing!

I think I'll stick to liquid from now on, haha! loads of people seem to get along with stick foundations and although this is the first one I've tried, its kind of put me off. thank you!
DeleteI haven't loved the foundation either, but the concealer is amazing! It's so strange that they differ so much yet theyre the same range xx
